© 2025 Temple Seven Press, Inc. All rights reserved, except as expressly stated below. This Copyright Notice explains what is, and is not, protected by copyright on www.templeseven.com (the "Services"), and sets out our procedure for reporting claims of copyright infringement.

1. Public Domain Source Works

Temple Seven publishes Editions of books whose underlying Source Works are, to the best of our knowledge and belief, in the public domain in the United States and in the other jurisdictions where we make them available. Source Works are drawn from established public-domain repositories, including the Internet Archive, Project Gutenberg, and the Library of Congress. Before publication, each title's public-domain status is checked using an AI-assisted verification process together with human editorial review, and we retain verification records for each title. We are aware that public-domain determinations can be more difficult for certain categories of works — including mid-twentieth-century titles subject to renewal formalities, foreign-sourced works subject to URAA restoration, and later editions that add separately copyrighted illustrations, forewords, or introductions to an otherwise public-domain text — and we apply extra diligence to those categories. We make no claim of copyright ownership in a Source Work itself, and nothing in this Notice restricts your use of a genuinely public-domain Source Work independent of our Edition. Public domain status can vary by country; if you plan to reuse a Source Work outside the United States, you are responsible for confirming its status under the law of your jurisdiction.

2. Our Copyright in Temple Seven Editions

While the Source Work itself is not protected, Temple Seven Press, Inc. and its licensors hold copyright in the original, independently copyrightable contributions we add when preparing an Edition, including: our cleaned and corrected transcription of the text; interior typesetting, layout, and formatting; original cover art and design; introductions, footnotes, annotations, glossaries, and other editorial or scholarly additions; illustrations we add; and the curation and compilation of the Edition as a whole. These contributions, together with the Temple Seven name, logo, "Antiquarian Reprint Collection" imprint line, and related branding, are protected under United States and international copyright and trademark law and may not be reproduced, redistributed, or used to train machine-learning models without our prior written consent, except to the limited extent expressly licensed to purchasers under our Terms and Conditions. Downloaded Digital Product files may include a traceable identifier tied to the purchasing Account to help us detect unauthorized redistribution.

3. User-Generated Content and DMCA Notice-and-Takedown

Certain features of the Services — including Temple Seven Research workspaces — allow users to post content such as notes, quotations, images, and links ("User Content"). Temple Seven Press, Inc. respects the intellectual property rights of others and responds to notices of alleged copyright infringement in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 512 (the "DMCA"). Our policy is to expeditiously remove or disable access to material that is claimed to be infringing when we receive a compliant notice, to notify the user who posted it, and to terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of repeat infringers.

3.1 Filing an Infringement Notice

If you believe that any content on the Services — whether a Temple Seven Edition or User Content — infringes your copyright, send a written notification to our Designated Agent (Section 4) or submit it through the form on this page. To be effective under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), your notification must include substantially the following:

• A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf (typing your full legal name in the form serves as an electronic signature);
• Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or, for multiple works at a single site, a representative list);
• Identification of the material claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate it (a URL on www.templeseven.com is best);
• Your contact information, including a mailing address, telephone number, and email address;
• A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
• A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that material was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages.

3.2 Our Response and Counter-Notification

When we receive a compliant notice, we will expeditiously remove or disable access to the identified material and take reasonable steps to promptly notify the user who posted it. That user may submit a counter-notification under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g) using the counter-notification form on this page (sign in required) or by writing to our Designated Agent. A counter-notification must include: identification of the removed material and its former location; a statement under penalty of perjury that the user has a good faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification; the user's name, address, and telephone number; consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the user's judicial district (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found) and acceptance of service of process from the notifying party; and a physical or electronic signature. Upon receipt of a compliant counter-notification we will forward it to the original claimant; unless the claimant notifies us that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain the alleged infringement, we may restore the removed material in ten (10) to fourteen (14) business days.

3.3 Repeat-Infringer Policy

We maintain a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers. Takedowns of a user's content following compliant infringement notices are recorded as strikes against the account; accounts that accumulate repeated strikes are reviewed and subject to termination. We may also terminate the access of any person determined to have submitted fraudulent or bad-faith complaints or counter-notifications.

3.4 Complaints About Temple Seven Editions

The same process applies to our own publications. If you believe a Temple Seven Edition infringes your copyright — for example, because a Source Work was not actually in the public domain, or because an Edition reproduces a separately copyrighted illustration, foreword, or introduction added in a later edition of a historical work — file a notice as described above. Our internal policy is that any credible infringement or provenance complaint results in the title being taken down from sale and free access immediately, pending our review; if we determine a title was published in error, we will permanently remove it or the affected portion.
